Get your free verb drill program for Brazilian Portuguese. I wrote this little program to help me with my Portuguese conjugations.

Why am I giving this away? Well I hope to use you as a tester to test some other code that I've written. The most important part is the installer. I want to make sure the installer works correctly on a variety of machines. The other important part is the feedback section where you can send me bugs you have found or suggestions on how to improve the product.

2000-07-16 Bug fix: Installer would install and the program would run, but the Verbs part of the program caused the program to 'hang' - stop function. To kill the program you would have to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then click "End Task". This does not appear to affect everyone.

2000-06-09 Update: I've added some more tenses (Futuro do Subjuntivo, Preterito Imperfeito do Subjuntivo, Preterito Perfeito do Subjuntivo, and Mais-que-perfeito do Subjuntivo). I've added a verb lookup page. With this page you can give a congugated verb and it will return the verb and in which tense it is conjugated. Still needs work, and it's slow. I've improved the look of the Verb List page output. It now always prints out (only) three regular verbs and then the irregular verbs after that. Also, it wasn't obvious before that you can print, I've made it more obvious.

Basically an illustraded dictionary where each object is written in English and in Portuguese. The book is written more for Brazilians trying to learn English but it works the other way as well.

Here's a screen shot showing the most important screen, the verb tense drill page. When you click the "New" button it give you a new verb and a tense to conjugate. Depending on you options a asterisk (*) will appear next to the forms that are irregular.

The verbs and tenses are chosen randomly. In the options page you can pick which types of verbs and tenses you would like to drill on.

The options page allow you to pick which tenses you'll be drilling on. You can also pick whether to drill on regular verbs, irregular verbs or both.

There is also a dialog to drill on your check writing. Checks are a popular way to pay for things in Brazil. This dialog can drill you in writing dates and amounts, both of which are generated randomly. This saves you from the embarassment of writing a bad check, and then having to redo it.
